Blog Entry #6,
Had a good day with my flying buddies/wingmen at Rancho San Antonio(RSA) earlier during today's morning mission, flying my modified Eflite Maule M7 1500mm FPV style (EFL5350). The stock Eflite BL15 1050kV Brushless Motor was replaced by the FMS 3948 760KV motor swinging the FMS 13x9x3 STUKA prop. I ran a 3s 4000mah 45C pack all the way up front equipped with the AR636 6-Channel AS3X Sport Receiver, and the beast just tore through the sky but what's great about this aircraft is she just flies like a trainer as the stall speed is very low throughout the flight envelope, especially in turns. Touch and goes are easy to perform as the low wing loading gives the pilot plenty of opportunity to slow down and line up with the runway to make a smooth boom and zoom experience. In the video you will see there are two sections, where the film starts out with an external view of the Maule followed by FPV scenes where I was chasing the new Eflite P-39 and the Eflite Cherokee. The light weight and compact Mobius Action Camera 1080P HD 60fps 131 Degree Wide-Angle Lens was incorporated as an aerial FPV camera for this task. Last but not least I suggest using a 50A esc like this one to drive the mentioned prop on 3s to stay on the safe side.
